SARASOTA: FRUITVILLE

Sarasota County’s Fruitville is the warm kind of community that seems to define what life in Florida can be like. Boasting a population of more than 13,000 people, spread across just over 7 square miles, Fruitville features many characteristics that some would consider the definition of the American dream. Here’s everything you need to know about what life is like there, what kind of homes there are, it’s history, and the demographics that live there.

Like much of Sarasota, Fruitville has a feeling of luxury that can be seen through the ample amount of artistic venues in the area. The majority of residents here own their own homes, which have an average value of around $258,000. Average income levels for households in the area are around $51,000, which is probably supported by the relatively decent employment opportunities here, as well as the somewhat lower than average cost of living. According to residents from the area, the neighborhood has an overall safe feel, and crime isn’t spoken of as being a problem for most.

In this insulated suburban neighborhood, most of the homes are single-family designs, and are generally newer. Although the homes come in many popular designs and styles, some residents will notice there isn’t as much variety as you would see in some of the more historic neighborhoods in the area.
